Biotechnology, Chemistry, Zoology

Outline of the course :

This is a 3 year B.Sc. Degree program which is divided into 6 semesters. This program prepares graduates for careers in Life Science in the fields of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Zoology. Apart from these subjects, a student gets an opportunity to learn compulsory subjects like Computer Fundamentals, Indian Constitution and Environmental Science which is an added advantage.

About the course :

  Biotechnology :

Biotechnology is the science which deals with the technology in biological science where application of knowledge of genes and genetic materials for the betterment of human welfare is employed. Biotechnology is a combination of microbial gene technology, cell biology, genetic engineering, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, plant and animal biotechnology. It is a highly evolved subject which deals with the latest scientific techniques.

Study of biotechnology at graduation level enables students to take up specialized sciences such as molecular biology, genetic engineering, microbial gene technology, medical biotechnology at post graduation level. They can also do MBA in biotechnology.

Chemistry :

Chemistry is the central science. It is the science about substances their composition, structure, properties and interactions. Chemistry helps to explain the physical world and its workings and plays an important role in our life. Chemistry has contributed a great deal too technical advances of society and has made many important contributions to modern life. Every component is made from one or more chemical elements that occur in nature. In chemistry use of different kinds of chemical processes to make the elements more useful and they create countless products that make our lives healthier, easier and more enjoyable.

Globally the development of industries in one or the other way needs the knowledge of chemistry. In the fields of pharmaceutical, chemical, food, mineral water industries as they posses quality controlling, production unit need the persons of chemistry background. Chemistry is a powerful springboard to launch into a fascinating career. Chemistry courses combine general education with preparation for immediate employment. A person with a bachelor’s level education in chemistry is prepared to assume a wide variety of positions in industry, government and academics.

  Zoology :

The branch of biology that studies animals, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution. Zoology is a complex science having immense number of problems yet to be solved.

The study of zoology is necessary for preprofessional work in medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary science, dietetics, agriculture, fishery, poultry, sericulture, apiculture, conservation of wildlife, sanitary engineering and many other fields. Medical sciences have profited from zoological discoveries, for concepts formed by studying one group of animals can be applied also to other groups including man. Zoology study furnishes the basis for psychological and sociological studies. At present there is a lively study of animal behaviour and its implications of human application, which is indicative of this interest.

The study of zoology is an excellent discipline for mind. This is true for all sciences, but it is particularly true of life sciences that have a unique role in mans cultural pattern. Biological concepts influence our thinking in every realm of human interest. For instance, the concept of evolution or the transformation of organisms from one type to another during geological eras, has affected concepts in philosophy, psychology, sociology, religion and many other disciplines. One of the fascinating facets of biological study is the ever changing nature of its concepts
