Computers
are omnipresent in the modern world giving unprecedented
opportunities to use information technology (IT)
to meet a very large number of societal needs.
IT has moved from laboratories to office, education
to health care, and homes and has been incorporated
into belongings of all types.
The college offers a three-year full time under
graduate programme in Computer Applications
affiliated to Bangalore University. The curriculum
of BCA enables the scholar to meet the growing
needs of the industry. They are exposed to the
theoretical and practical knowledge in the field
with modern technologies and techniques.
Outline
of the course :
The
BCA programme aims in molding the students in
a way they will fit themselves to the competitive
sphere of corporates by imparting working knowledge
about computers, technical skills to use the computers
effectively in developing commercial and scientific
applications and interpersonal skills relevant
to the environment .The program consists of 3
academic years divided into six semesters. The
subjects of the curriculum are carefully prepared
by eminent professors of Bangalore University
so that the student gets up to-date knowledge
of the emerging technologies.
The course contains programming languages like
C, C++, java, visual Basic. It also includes
application and informative subjects like Data
Base Management systems, Artificial Intelligence,
Networking which are of prime importance in
the present scenario. Students also have project
work from fourth semester which they can do
in college or other organizations. This exposes
the students to the necessities of analysis,
development and testing of software , which
is the requisite for their future.
In addition to the regular subjects students
can also have a look into environmental studies,
Indian Constitution and managerial programs.
Duration
and Scheme :
The
programme consists of 3 academic years divided
into six semesters. Each semester is of 16 weeks
duration. Each subject, theory and practical,
has 4 hrs per week. i.e. a total of 16 hrs per
month per subject. In addition, students must
carry out project work in specific topics as per
the syllabus, either in the college or in any
other organization.
Eligibility
:
The
candidate with PUC – II (Science / Commerce)
or 10 + 2 or equivalent securing a minimum of
35% of marks.
OR
Any
student who has passed JODC or Diploma in Engineering.
(Of Three year duration of Govt. Of Karnataka)
with minimum of 35% Marks in aggregate in all
the semesters/Years.
